I think the real problem that this addresses with RMT is the fact that most are seedy places that regularly practice fraud. By doing this, Blizzard makes it safe for those who would probably get scammed by trying to do it on some shadowy site anyways.

I'm against RMT, but other people doing it won't affect how I play. I'll just choose not to use it. I have nothing against people who do choose to use it, since if game companies didn't rely on crack-like addictive grind to distract customers it wouldn't be used in the first place.

Yes, I'm buying D3 and my reaction is "Meh, whatever floats your boat." I'll play my way and you can play yours.
Pretty much sums up my thoughts on the matter.

Just so everyone knows black markets are located in internet relay chats such as mIRC. Just want to put that out there.

My thoughts on the matter is, so what if you can buy in game money with real money. You can still play the game without having the thought of using real cash. However, you would have to have the discipline of not using your hard earned cash on D3. The same discipline applies to using real cash instead of plastic.

Just think (I don't know how this system is in place) If I rare item and I would trade it for in game cash rather than real cash then someone else wanting to buy it will use cash to buy in-game cash to get it.

Plus, I would prefer an mmorpg that is more designed for laptop play without really using a mouse.

The highly successful Facebook games already accept real world currency for in-game credits, so why not?

They wouldn't be so popular today if this doesn't work.

As a retired D2 player I have played since inception , this has a sore point to myself as

Botters paradise

it now takes away the point of finding a particular item ,have cash? then just buy it..

This will now become a Pay to win

You will not have the option of doing anysingle player since you will have to be connected to the web 100%

People say yes but gold had no value in D2 thats true but its easy to ensure it does in D3 with an incentive of obtaining an item of value.

So I for one as a harcore D2 player who was looking to purchase D3 I will be thinking twice now as will a lot of guys I know.

This will give torchlight 2 the clone of D3 that put back the launch of d3 some incentives to play.

People say as a rebuff yes but you dont need to buy if you dont want to but,
the Cash Cow of Blizzard is raising its head again. they will get a cut as will paypal ect .
So this guy will hold onto my cash for some months after its released before I will spend it on D3.

Couple things
1) It already happens anyways
2) can if done properly make it easier to catch bots by focusing on the accounts with the most activity on the market and maybe double checking those accounts if they were behaving suspiciously otherwise.
3) It already happens
4)Odds are very few people will spend real amounts on high end items. Like it would be very rare to see someone outright buy a mini shiroken, alot of people might not mind spending 10-15$ and getting 100e. Soooo I don't think the super items will see to much sale with most sales being mid range items. I could be wrong the people could be very committed but just something to think about.
5) It happens already
6)There is no six its an evil disgusting number
7)It happens already
8)Provides a method to hide illegal income from the irs if they come knocking...just sayin.
9)It happens already
10)It's better then a cash shop that sells items that give like damage boosts that aren't available through means of hard in-game work. Unlike some cash shops in which if you want to be as effective as everyone else you HAVE to spend money this is you can spend money or you can spend time in-game.

The problem, as it existed in D2, is that the higher end of the gear spectrum is unobtainable except through illicit means. For example, rune drops that are literally one in a million boss runs. And then imagine needing three or four of the damn things to create a competitive set of armor. It's disgusting. This is precisely why RMT exists.

Taking the laissez-faire approach to real markets is one thing; no one ever said life was fair. But games are supposed to be. And shit like this strips the merit right out of the entire system.

I love this idea. I can now play Diablo 3 and make some cash at the same time. I would never buy anything so all this does is allow me to make monies while gaming! I couldn't see this happen in GW2, though.

And when the tax man comes a knocking? Believe me the tax free internet is going to end.

Other note this is no different than some of the other games out there that are all cash crop games of glam. I will tell you if this happens in GW I will play and sell everything and have the crispiest weapons ever seen I could care less.

If I'm not wrong, you will have to pay taxes when you list an item, when you sell an item and when you buy an item.

D2 RMAH isn't going to be considered taxable income for anyone but the highest earners. It's basically a garage sale as far as tax laws are concerned. The Blizzard legal team has already looked into it.
